The D'urani, or the indigenous people of Terram, are a gentle, non-warlike people, who value the preservation and respect of their natural surroundings over the desire to progress into a more technologically developed race. While the D'urani are extremely smart, and have very advanced technology, they really only use it for transportation and communications. Their cities are humble and not overdeveloped, integrating the natural landscapes they're built in.

The D'urani

The D'urani live in a variety of climates  across Terram, and their ability to adapt allow them to build housing that utilizes and coexists with the surrounding environment and wildlife.

For example, some of the D'urani people live along the coasts, and have developed a relationship with the merpeople that live in the water there. The merpeople build the foundations of houses that the D'urani then build on top of.

These houses are made of local, water-resistant materials, and have two separate sections for both the merpeople and the D'urani to inhabit.

D'urani Evolution

The D'urani share a common evolutionary ancestor with some of the major species of merpeople on Terram, as they evolved from an aquatic, fish-like creature. While the D'urani eventually adapted to live on land, the merpeople diverged from that evolutionary path and became more suited for underwater living.

D'urani Growth

7'1"

~8-10"

When a new D'urani is born, they're born in "litters" of 2-5 at a time, with 3 being the average. D'urani are born as tadpole-like, and have to be kept in a special pool for the first month or so of their lives. They then remain fairly soft-edged and large-eyed until their version of "puberty," where they broaden out, undergo a severe growth spurt, and lose almost all of their "baby fat." Adult D'urani are generally anywhere from 6 to 8 feet tall, with a few cases of some being as tall as 10 or 11 feet.
